Easter 2011

I’m not sure why I’ve always celebrated Easter really. Since I’m not religious, I guess it’s like most American Hallmark holidays: tradition. I’ve always thought of Easter as a good time to welcome in Spring and spend a day with family. Plus, who doesn’t like an excuse to eat Peeps. So here we are.

Being it the twins first Easter, I thought we should celebrate a bit. We said hello to Spring by enjoying a 90 degree Austin day in the park followed by a family dinner. We first played pickleball (yes, this currently is my family’s favorite game to play) on a makeshift court down at Zilker Elementary with Aunt Courtney, Uncle Jess, and Grandpa Tom. It was perfect because one of us could always sit out and watch the twins while the remaining four played. Yes!

After almost three hours at the park, we headed home for homemade jalapeno au-gratin potatoes, salad, and fried talapia. Thanks Courtney and Jess for dinner! It was a lovely day for all and a holiday I look forward to in years to come.

Next year I think we’ll start adding in some “hallmark” fun that the kiddos will enjoy. Easter egg hunts, hidden Easter bunny baskets, dying eggs…
